About Us
It all started with one man’s vision.
In 1962, Cesar Subido better known as Chai Subido, and his family moved to Japan. During his stay, he learned how to speak in Japanese by interacting with locals and studying at International Christian University (ICU). After finishing high school and reaching 2nd year college, they moved back to the Philippines.
In 1975, while working as a Japanese tour guide, he dreamed of becoming one of the most fluent Japanese-speaking Filipino. To achieve this, he flew back to Japan to enroll at ICU as a research student of Advanced Nihongo. After getting his degree, he flew back to the Philippines, did a bit of teaching, interpreting and translating among other things.
In 1981, Mr. Subido was hired by the Japanese Language Institute of the Philippines (JLIP) as a Japanese language instructor.
By 1987, he was appointed as the International Director of JLIP that then grew and changed its name to Pros International.
After 12 years of working back and forth in the Philippines and Japan, he decided to come back for good.
In 1991 Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) reached out to him asking for his expertise on the condition that he set up his own company. And so Hachi came to be.
Through the years of experience in servicing Japanese companies, Hachi has grown into one of the leading Japanese language service providers in the country.
